{"id":222,"date":"2007-12-31T20:41:25","date_gmt":"2008-01-01T03:41:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sackrider.org\/category\/07-alaska-trip\/alaska-trip-day-4-quick-ports-sinus-infection"},"modified":"2025-06-15T06:07:37","modified_gmt":"2025-06-15T06:07:37","slug":"alaska-trip-day-4-quick-ports-sinus-infection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sackrider.org\/wordpress\/alaska-trip-day-4-quick-ports-sinus-infection\/","title":{"rendered":"Alaska Trip: Day 4 &#8211; Quick Ports, Sinus Infection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"The Boat\" src=\"http:\/\/sackrider.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/101_1064sm.jpg\" alt=\"The Boat\" align=\"left\" \/>Today we had three port stops \u00e2\u20ac\u201c each for very short time frames (less than an hour); just enough time for Jeremy to take Kyleigh for a walk.<span> <\/span>The first stop was Ketchekin \u00e2\u20ac\u201c we grabbed some groceries so we could avoid paying the boat prices for food and we also grabbed breakfast from a local restaurant to go.<span> <\/span><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Grocery Store\" src=\"http:\/\/sackrider.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/101_1059sm.jpg\" alt=\"Grocery Store\" align=\"right\" \/>The second stop (Petersburg) had nothing open or within walking distance, the third port (Wrangle) had a small restaurant, which we didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have time to eat at but some of our new friends from the boat did risk eating at.<span> <\/span>After walking with Jeremy and Kyleigh for a while, I decided to stop into the restaurant to talk to John, Jeremy and Hailey \u00e2\u20ac\u201c which turned out to almost cost me big!<span> <\/span>They were waiting to pay the check and when they finished we noticed there weren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t any cars left pulling onto the boat \u00e2\u20ac\u201c we had lost track of the time and the boat doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t wait for people due to port costs \u00e2\u20ac\u201c so we ran to the peer, where we were told that boarding was closed!<span> <\/span>As it turns out the peer staff does have a sense of humor and was pulling our chains.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"On Deck\" src=\"http:\/\/sackrider.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/12\/101_1101sm.jpg\" alt=\"On Deck\" align=\"left\" \/>Other than the peer stops, we spent much of the day setting on the observation deck \u00e2\u20ac\u201c occasionally stepping out on the deck to grab a few pictures but getting back inside quickly because it was getting very cold.<span> <\/span>My sinuses started kicking in fierce \u00e2\u20ac\u201c I developed a sinus headache that rated an 8 on a 1 to 10 and my nose was completely clogged so I spent most of the day breathing through my mouth \u00e2\u20ac\u201c which is miserable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today we had three port stops \u00e2\u20ac\u201c each for very short time frames (less than an hour); just enough time for Jeremy to take Kyleigh for a walk.
