{"id":102,"date":"2006-11-06T15:26:01","date_gmt":"2006-11-06T22:26:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sackrider.org\/myblog\/category\/mythoughts\/when-is-sex-dirty"},"modified":"2025-06-15T06:07:45","modified_gmt":"2025-06-15T06:07:45","slug":"when-is-sex-dirty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sackrider.org\/wordpress\/when-is-sex-dirty\/","title":{"rendered":"When is sex dirty?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I recently had a conversation with a co-worker on American views of sex and sexuality (spawned from my &#8220;How is that OK?&#8221; post).\u00c2\u00a0 He has a 15 year old friend who is in a sexual relationship with his 17 year old girlfriend.\u00c2\u00a0 When the girlfriend&#8217;s parents found out, they banned her from seeing him anymore.\u00c2\u00a0 My co-worker believes this was the wrong response on the part of the parents and that America has &#8216;really dropped the ball regarding sex&#8217;.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>He commented that his &#8220;grandparents thought sex was dirty&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 I began to think about that statement &#8211; &#8220;sex is dirty&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 Of course we know its not &#8216;dirty&#8217;.\u00c2\u00a0 We know that sex was created by God and that we naturally crave it.\u00c2\u00a0 So why would someone believe sex is &#8216;dirty&#8217;?\u00c2\u00a0 Well, I thought, what does it mean to be dirty?\u00c2\u00a0 Dirt isn&#8217;t bad, right?\u00c2\u00a0 We need dirt to make bricks, we need dirt to grow food, we use it to make pottery, to grow grass and plants &#8211; in fact, without dirt, we couldn&#8217;t survive.\u00c2\u00a0 So when does something become &#8216;dirty&#8217;?\u00c2\u00a0 When its not suppose to have dirt on it.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t mind dirt in my garden; I don&#8217;t want it on my shirt.\u00c2\u00a0 When my son runs through the yard and falls &#8211; his clothes are then dirty, and that&#8217;s a bad thing.\u00c2\u00a0 Not because dirt is bad but because having it on his clothes is.\u00c2\u00a0 So then, when is sex dirty?\u00c2\u00a0 When it is where it shouldn&#8217;t be.\u00c2\u00a0 Sex on a billboard ad doesn&#8217;t make sex dirty &#8211; it makes the ad dirty.<\/p>\n<p>Sex in godly context is fun and amazing and worth it, but sex outside of a marriage can have disastrous affects.\u00c2\u00a0 How many STDs would we have if sex were only practiced in faithful marriages?\u00c2\u00a0 How many abortions?\u00c2\u00a0 What affect would it have on our welfare system if sex was respected as an act of love only performed in the context of marriage?<\/p>\n<p>If we teach our children that sex is bad, then I believe we set them up to fail.\u00c2\u00a0 With entire cities flaunting the attitude &#8216;what happens here stays here&#8217;, we must educate our children about sex; we must place sex in context with marriage, love, and unity as it was created by God.\u00c2\u00a0 Has America &#8216;dropped the ball&#8217;\u00c2\u00a0regarding sex?\u00c2\u00a0 Maybe.\u00c2\u00a0 Will you?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I recently had a conversation with a co-worker on American views of sex and sexuality (spawned from my &#8220;How is that OK?&#8221; post).\u00c2\u00a0 He has a 15 year old friend who is in a sexual relationship with his 17 year old girlfriend.\u00c2\u00a0 When the girlfriend&#8217;s parents found out, they banned her from seeing him anymore.\u00c2\u00a0 [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-102","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.sackrider.org\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/102","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.sackrider.org\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.sackrider.org\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.sackrider.org\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.sackrider.org\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=102"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.sackrider.org\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/102\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":2889,"href":"https:\/\/www.sackrider.org\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/102\/revisions\/2889"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.sackrider.org\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=102"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.sackrider.org\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=102"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.sackrider.org\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=102"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
