{"id":101,"date":"2006-11-05T18:07:44","date_gmt":"2006-11-06T01:07:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sackrider.org\/myblog\/category\/family\/how-is-that-ok"},"modified":"2025-06-15T06:07:45","modified_gmt":"2025-06-15T06:07:45","slug":"how-is-that-ok","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sackrider.org\/wordpress\/how-is-that-ok\/","title":{"rendered":"How is that OK?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a full day of bike riding (kinda &#8211; I got called to work about an hour into the ride), swimming (yes, the water was freezing but we did swim), and playing, Stephanie and I took Zander to see &#8220;Open Season&#8221; last night.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a cartoon about a domesticated bear that saves a deer from being slaughtered by a hunter before open hunting season begins.\u00c2\u00a0 It started out great \u00e2\u20ac\u201c it was funny and Zander was glued to the big screen.\u00c2\u00a0 Then out of nowhere, Stephanie and I both look at each other and say &#8220;Did he just say Orgy?&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not a stickler for strictness as many religious are.\u00c2\u00a0 I am likely too relaxed in my view habits when it comes to Zander, but this was like getting hit in the head with a fast ball while at a fishing event; completely unexpected and unnecessary.\u00c2\u00a0 Boog, the bear, is completely trashing a convenience store with Elliot, the dear.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a cartoon \u00e2\u20ac\u201c I&#8217;m not ranting about the fact that they broke into a store and started trashing the place.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m not upset that they were binging on stolen candy \u00e2\u20ac\u201c again it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a cartoon and I wouldn&#8217;t expect a bear loose in a convenience store to do anything else.\u00c2\u00a0 But when Boog opens the cash register, grabs the cash, throws it into the air and yells &#8216;Orgy&#8217; \u00e2\u20ac\u201c I was shocked.\u00c2\u00a0 This is a cartoon!\u00c2\u00a0 A kids movie, right?<\/p>\n<p>OK \u00e2\u20ac\u201c I understand the definition of the word included &#8220;any act of immoderate indulgence&#8221; and this sugar binge qualifies as such, but IT&#8217;S A CARTOON!\u00c2\u00a0 The denotation of the word may be correct, but its connotation is sexual in nature and I just didn&#8217;t expect to hear it in a CARTOON.\u00c2\u00a0 Am I over reacting here?<\/p>\n<p>I thought, maybe I heard it wrong.\u00c2\u00a0 So I jumped online and did a quick search.\u00c2\u00a0 I only found one site that mentioned the incident at all \u00e2\u20ac\u201c it was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.screenit.com\/movies\/2006\/open_season.html\">http:\/\/www.screenit.com\/movies\/2006\/open_season.html<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Do they list it under &#8220;Profanity&#8221; \u00e2\u20ac\u201c no.\u00c2\u00a0 Maybe under &#8220;Sex \/ Nudity&#8221; \u00e2\u20ac\u201c nope.\u00c2\u00a0 Although they do seem to think that &#8216;smooth and creamy&#8217; is likely referring to a woman more than a candy bar????
