  • My Weightloss Journal

Ok — One of the BIG reasons I finally moved to AZ was my wieght. I gained an average of 10lbs a year in Columbus OH, taking me from the slightly overweight 230lbs to the extreemly overweight 330lbs! The last summer I was in Columbus, Stephanie and I bought bikes and begain to ride a couple of nights a week and on weekends. I lost 30lbs that summer, but it got cold (remember, I was in Ohio) and I couldn’t ride anymore. I started to gain some of the weight back. (more…)

  • I made it!

I started riding the bus to work a few weeks ago.  It saves us over $120 a month in gas – which is cool – but it takes me an hour and a half to get to work – which is not cool.  So, I noticed every bus has a bike rack on the front so you can ‘bike-n-ride’.  I got to thinking maybe I could take my bike to work in the morning and ride my bike home.  So I tried that almost two weeks ago.  My thought was this, sure its 100 plus degrees outside, but I can get on the bus any time I get too tired, right?

So my first real attempt was no too bad; I made it about 8 miles before I got on the bus (oh, it’s 18-19 miles to work).  My second attempt I made it 14 miles.  But yesterday, I made it all the way home – in all I put 23 miles on my bike yesterday.  I had to ride up to Union Hills from my house (about four miles) because my bus already had two bikes on it (they only carry two).  I could have waited 30 mins for the next bus, but I chose to cycle instead. • my dream – looting a gas station, taking advantage of a friend

I looted, took advantage of a friendship, and put my wife in danger.

I don’t remember what happened that caused us all to start looting a gas station, but I remember jumping in and taking anything I could.  At first, I was just grabbing the stuff I was already going to buy, but then I thought I might be able to resell some of the stuff I took.  I looked for anything expensive — but its a gas station right.  I grabbed oil.  I went to the car to unload what I had taken, thinking I would just run back in and take even more.  While I was doing that, people all around me were grabbing stuff off the shelves, just like I was.  I remember thinking, “what’s wrong with these people?”  Stephanie asked what was going on when I dropped the stuff I had stolen off in the car.  “Nothing, just start packing this stuff up” I told her.  When I got back to the gas station, the door was locked.  A friend of mine (I have no idea who it was, just that I knew the guy) was inside, wearing a gas station uniform.  He asked what I was doing, I asked him for a two liter of soda pop.  “I can’t, I could lose my job” he said, but I was convincing.  “I just need a drink, man. I won’t be long and look, so much is already gone, what would anyone notice?”  There was someone else in the store with him that I didn’t recognize. He let me in. (more…)

  • myBlog

Ok, I don’t know what I’m doing, and I don’t really have time to do it, but I would like to more consistantly log my thoughts and I believe a blog is a good way to do that. So, soon I will make this blog the default homepage for http://sackrider.org. Until then, I will continue to act like I have time to add new projects (like this one) to my plate.

  • Downhill Fast (having nothing to do with cycling)

I haven’t been in here and a while and I cannot seem to get this to work remotely. Not sure why. Money is tight, I am still in OH, and I am still much larger than I want to be. I am behind about 45 chapters in my bible reading. Which is better than I was… Anyway, I hate that I haven’t written in a while. I am putting a lot of my thoughts onto Jason’s bible forum. I should download it and put them here as well. I’m falling asleep, so nite.

    Later, Same Day…

I just read my last entry in April. I have an update – I did not get the raise I asked for, I have not successfully plugged into lay leadership as I had hoped, we are not still geocaching on a weekly basis. Suprised? I’m not. forgive me, but I’m not in a great mood and I don’t currently see a bright future…

  • Work Jargon, and GeoCaching

WOW – I cannot believe I haven’t written in here in such a long time and so much has happened at work, home, and church.

Let’s start with work – I still have no answer about the request for raise and promotion, but I will let you know as soon as I do. We have begun the AD roll-out finally. Greg Hoffman and I migrated LOC 1820 yesterday. We migrate the Contact Center next week. Anyway…

and Church – I spoke with Bro. Ronnie and asked him how can I help – he asked me to become a lay leader. I still don’t believe I have a good answer as to what a lay leader is exactly, but I went to training and I plan to get involved as much as possible.

Home – Well, check out GeoCaching.com! Quite possibly the best thing that has happened for Stephanie and I in a long while regarding physical activity and us time. We have been going from park to farm to park, hiking everywhere. For those who don’t know what geocaching is – I use multi-million dollar government satelites to find tupperware in the woods – 🙂

We post latitude and longitude of a cache online and others use those coordinates to find it. We sign the log and trade trinkets, while picking trash up along the way. It’s great fun and Stephanie and I found 7 today. Anyway, I’m going to bed now.

  • He Who Finds a Wife, Finds a Good Thing

Ok – I was going to go to bed, but I noticed a bug in my journal page that incorrectly dated my entry as 04/01 instead of 04/11. I wanted to correct it, so I jumped on to my server and worked on it for while. It is now fixed, but in the process, I allowed myself to get side tracked and I re-read my journal entries from last year when we had Zander.

Wow – I had forgotten those thoughts completely. That is why I should have been keeping a journal my whole life – so that I wouldn’t forget. Zander is a child from God and sometimes I forget that. Stephanie is THE WIFE from God and I often forget that. I love her so much and my love for her grows everyday. I hope I am able to show all my children that my love for Stephanie is only passed by my Love for God.

    Anyway – I must go – it’s late and I am tried… Until next time…

  • Workouts, Weather, and Returning to Volunteering

Hello! It’s Monday nite and I just got home from my workout. I always walk away wishing I had pushed myself more. I don’t have much to say today – Work was ok, the weather was great, and tomorrows another day.

Oh – I don’t remember if I said anything yesterday or not, but I spoke with Bro. Ronnie at the church about getting back involved. He asked me to call him Wednesday so I am looking forward to the call. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

    Until then…

  • Golf, Frisbees, the Park, Us together

Today was another great day. After church, Stephanie and I went to the driving range. She won’t play golf with me, but she will go to the range and to play miniture golf. She said, “I’ll go with you to work on your long game and your short game, just not at the same time…” 🙂

Anyway, after that we went to Play It Again sports and picked up a basketball and a football. Then we went to the park and found a frisbee. We spent most of our time throwing the frisbee back and forth. Zander loved it – he got to run and fall and roll around. He also chased the frisbee back and forth. It was a lot of fun.

Well, tomorrow is Monday and the work week begins. They are calling for rain Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. It looks like next weekend is going to be a good one though. I am supposed to go pick up a swing set from Tom at work.

I am off to bed… Until next time, g’dnite.
